It has been reported that Bowie was cremated shortly after his death.

In the Daily Mail, Boy George recounted being almost 12-years-old and seeing Bowie performing as Ziggy Stardust.
Aviva Patz, of The Hey Honeys: My sister and I had a “David Bowie Wall” in our TV room growing up with pictures and posters of his many incarnations.
“Bowie Street in downtown Austin has ch-ch-ch-ch-changed”, Mayor Steve Adler tweeted, referencing one of Bowie’s best-known songs.
“David Bowie was like something from outer space, he was like nothing we had ever seen before”, said Alex Fraser, the Bucks County Playhouse Producing Director. Few public figures could master the weirdness of Henson’s style as well as Bowie, and with a whole bunch of great musical performances included too, Labyrinth is an honest treat for any and all cinema fans, not just Bowie completists. Hove also said that Bowie did not tell the cast about his illness.
I’m not saying there weren’t more major artists of the day asking MTV the pointed questions Bowie did; until this videotape unearthed in the wake of his succumbing to cancer this past Sunday (Jan 10th) at age 69, I didn’t know Bowie himself took this stance. The appearance was mid-December, and at that time, no one was aware that David Bowie was fighting cancer or that the musical would become symbolic of his death. Bowie performed as a mime in the Lindsay Kemp company early in his career. If you go back to the start, Bowie always used the visual medium as well as the audio, helping to create a whole new medium.
“I found it all very exciting – the feeling of aggression that came through the arrangements”.
The rebel, rebel move by the unidentified sign changer has drawn wide praise from Bowie fans on social media. Even before that, he worked with a young Luther Vandross on “Golden Years”, even appearing on Soul Train. Here are five artists who took note, along with the songs to prove it.
“It occurred to me, having watched MTV over the last few months, that’s it’s a solid enterprise…” The video hauntingly foreshadows his passing, depicting him in hospital bed, levitating and retreating into a wardrobe as if it were a tomb.
Bowie described the video as an over-the-top parody of racial stereotypes and an indictment of “invasion and exploitation”. In a widely read 1993 essay, academic Ellie Hisama acknowledged that Bowie intended irony but said the video still reflected Asian stereotypes by depriving the girl of any voice.
That was quickly followed-up, says Clark, who had previously co-starred in John Huston’s Fat City with Jeff Bridges and the hit George Lucas ’50s homage, American Graffiti, with a real-live Bowie encounter.

“So fearless, so creative, he gave us magic for a lifetime”, West tweeted.
