While Portugal hitman Ronaldo scored more goals than Messi during 2015, netting 54 for Madrid, it was not enough for his side to win any silverware.

Lionel Messi labelled Luis Suarez as the world’s best at what he does after winning a fifth Ballon d’Or crown. The Argentine magician won the prestigious award for a record fifth time as he beat last year’s victor Cristiano Ronaldo and teammate Neymar in a landslide victory.
Former Dutch and Barcelona striker Patrick Kluivert called Messi the “best football player” ever and also named his former club the “best team” in the world.
Messi said: “The objective is to become the first club to retain the Champions League”.
“I honestly wouldn’t be sitting up here, standing up here, without my incredible teammates”, said Lloyd, who made the three-player shortlist for the first time at age 33. He received a total of 41.33 percent of the votes followed by Cristiano Ronaldo who got 27.76 percent votes, and the Brazilian forward Neymar came third after receiving 7.86 percent votes. I want to thank football for everything it has brought me – both bad and good, it has helped me grow.
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is the world footballer of the year once again.
It has been revealed that Suarez was Messi’s own personal choice for the award.
He eclipsed rivals Pep Guardiola of Bayern Munich and Jorge Sampaoli, who led Chile to their first Copa America win earlier in the year.
The Barcelona forward regained the prize after his club won five major titles previous year, leaving Ronaldo’s Real Madrid with nothing.
