Patch 2.4.0 details out ahead of release

After a few scant minutes it’s clear that Blizzard didn’t half ass this update, and it reminds me of some of the best parts of Diablo II’s Act III.

As for why Blizzard has not announced any firm launch date for the new patch, Camel revealed that the company is holding off on doing so because there’s always a chance that some technical difficulties may require them to push back its release.

Remember Blizzard, the developer of Diablo III, gave a peek into the Patch 2.4.0 for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls at the BlizzCon 2015 in November previous year?

Other than that Greyhollow Island is now open to everyone with new enemies and mysterious inhabitants and a “hungry for blood” land. One of the biggest additions is a new playable area, the rather grim looking Greyhollow Island.

The other expanded zone, known as the Royal Quarters, will be accessible via Leoric’s Manor. Test your skills in this area – there are 24 dungeons which are custom designed and each one has a “pre-generated, static course designed entirely around a specific class set”. Players can start this challenge by wearing a full set of six-piece armor and travelling Leoric’s Library to start their trial. You only get bonus upgrades if you complete the rift, though. There are also general benefits such as Death’s Breath getting a new item color that is unique. A sixth one is now purchasable for 500,000 gold and additional ones can be unlocked by completing Seasonal objectives. This new feature allows us to transform a non-seasonal hero to a fresh level 1 seasonal one, maintaining its name, the character record and the gear (which will be in the mail and can be collected by non-seasonal characters).

Also being added to “Diablo 3” via patch 2.4 are two new expanded zones. Hopefully players will be happy with the way the gameplay works now, as there are some changes in this patch which can be seen as a bit experimental, but should definitely at least stir up some discussion among fans. We’re not sure how widespread they are or if they are only affecting a handful of players, but this is something you’ll want to take note of should you run into any issues while playing the game.
