To hold talks on North Korea

“The United States and South Korea are continuously and closely having discussions on additional deployment of strategic assets”, a South Korean spokesperson said Monday.

The B-52 was escorted by F-15k fighter jets from the South Korean Air Force and US F-16 fighters based in South Korea.

However, US Forces Korea officials said they had no knowledge of the plan.

Hwang Joon-Kook, who represents South Korea at the aid-for-disarmament talks, will hold a meeting with his US and Japan counterparts on Wednesday in Seoul.

Sejong Institute’s senior research fellow Chung Eun Sook said it is worrisome there seems nothing much world leaders can do to stop North Korea from conducting a fifth or sixth nuclear test. “It becomes a vicious circle”, she added.

Earlier on Sunday, KCNA quoted Kim as saying no one had the right to criticize the North’s nuclear tests.

As tensions heighten between the U.S. and North Korea, Guam is playing a major role to help maintain stability and security in the region.

North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un justified that their recent hydrogen bomb test was a form of self-defense against the United States.

Last week, South Korea began barring those with no direct relations to the park’s operations, such as clients and potential buyers. “So I think it is hard for China to show such response against us”, said Shin. “Almost all of its socioeconomic activities will be paralyzed, from the transportation sector to the military sector; inflation will rise; prices will soar; social anxiety will cause riots; and North Korean society will face a collapse”.

The chairman of South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said on Monday that North Korea was likely to carry out further sudden provocations, a South Korean defence ministry official said.

It is a further precautionary step from the measure taken last Thursday, in which the Ministry of Unification restricted entry of South Koreans to only those whose work at the industrial park and is directly related to production activities.

The North responded by turning on its own speakers to drown out the noise, though they could hardly be heard across the border, South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense said.

Two days later, Seoul resumed loudspeaker broadcasts along the border, a form of psychological warfare, in retaliation for the North’s actions.

The deployment was made as part of a series of military counteractions taken after the North announced the nuclear test on Wednesday.
