Folks who are not regular players are now getting into the game either individually or as a part of a group play pool, lottery officials say.

The stores that sold the winning jackpot tickets will be rewarded as well.

Wednesday’s winning numbers were: 8, 27, 34, 4 and 19 with a Powerball of 10.

The jackpot will be paid in annual payments over 29 years, unless the victor or winners opt for a lump-sum payment.

Those tickets matched the five numbers but missed the Powerball.

People swarmed the store late Wednesday evening following the announcement that a winning jackpot ticket was sold there. The identity of the winners was not yet known.

It’s official! There were 3 jackpot-winning tickets in tonight’s #Powerball draw: California, Florida & Tennessee.

If there had not been a victor, the jackpot would’ve increased yet again, further shattering lottery records.

The Los Angeles Times reports people swarmed the 7-Eleven in Chino Hills, cheering and taking photos.

The winning ticket in Tennessee was sold in Munford, north of Memphis, according to a news release from lottery officials in that state.

Spokesman Alex Traverso confirmed the winners for The Associated Press early Thursday in the $1.5 billion drawing.

Lottery officials had said 85.8 percent of possible number combinations had been selected by midday Wednesday in what some had been saying was the biggest lottery jackpot in the world. Thousands of others won smaller prizes.

Tickets for Powerball can be purchased in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The $1 million ticket from Bethpage was sold at the 7-Eleven at 25 Stewart Ave.

The victor would be subject to the highest federal tax rate of 40 percent.

But residents in the six states that don’t participate found ways to get their hands on tickets.
