“I think that if we were in the business of never having anyone guest on the network that had views that disagreed with our views, we would be out of business”.

After two hand injuries in five months a year ago, tabloids have claimed that Jimmy Fallon has a drinking and partying problem.

Mr. Greenblatt said Mr. Trump is a newsmaker who is everywhere but that his appearance on “Saturday Night Live” doesn’t mean the network is still in business with him. “He’s had some accidents”, Greenblatt said of Fallon after his annual press conference.

Zadan and Meron considered other musicals, including “Music Man” and “A Few Good Men”, but the former depended too much on ideal casting, while the latter faced rights issues.

“We are always anxious about his safety and health”, he said.

And NBC has more big specials in the works this season. “I’m hoping that all six of them will be in the same room at the same time”, Greenblatt said, though that hasn’t been determined yet.

After it put on The Wiz previous year, Peter Pan Live in 2014, and The Sound of Music Live in 2013, NBC is set to continue its tradition of an annual live musical.

“I’m happy to say that we are hopefully going to be producing a live new movie of Hairspray next December”, network executive Robert Greenblatt says. The Wiz, however, with its all-black cast did really well. “Aside from that, he’s in better shape than he’s ever been”.
