Leeds likely to fail in bid to prise Tom Rogic from Celtic

He has started all but three of Celtic’s SPL games this season and score five goals for the famous Glasgow club.

This week saw Leeds United linked with a shock move for Celtic playmaker Tom Rogic.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Leeds United see the 23-year-old as a natural No.10, and are understood to value him at about $2 million.

Leeds’ approach comes with Rogic in the midst of negotiations at Parkhead over extending his current contract, which expires at the end of next season.

Rogic’s agent, Daniel Berman, confirmed to Football magazine Four Four Two that his client wants to stay at Celtic.

However, the intial valuation by Leeds – believed to be £1,000,000 – is well beneath what Celtic will require for Rogic, who was brought to Celtic Park for £400,000 in January 2013.

Celtic are looking to shed the squad of fringe players, at least on loan, and unwanted striker Anthony Stokes is weighting up a move to former side Hibernian and also the chance to join up against with John Hughes at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

“Last year, I didn’t know who he was – he had been loaned out and had operations”.

However, Celtic appear to have made it clear that Rogic is going nowhere. While he is a favourite of Deila, the winger has struggled for game-time of late and he may be sent out for the rest of this season.
