Crowds descended on the California store that sold a winning ticket, with customers snapping pictures and congratulating the sales associate.

Individuals across the country were trying to get the winning ticket up until the final minute.
Tickets cost $2, or $3 for a Power Play ticket, which boosts the value of non-jackpot prizes. That includes two tickets that each won $1 million, four tickets that each won $100,000, and 20 tickets that each won $50,000. Those tickets were sold in 13 different cities, including Richmond and Lapel.

The identities of the new multimillionaires have yet to be announced, but spokesman Alex Traverso revealed that one of the golden stubs had been sold at a 7-Eleven store in Chino Hills, California, just outside Los Angeles, CBS News reported.
While no one in SC or North Carolina won the record-setting Powerball Jackpot Wednesday, lesser-winning tickets were sold in each state.

The chances of winning were 1 in 292.2 million, which means you’re more likely to be struck by lightning. Since the jackpot was last hit on November 4, 2015, a total of $2.65 billion worth of Powerball tickets has been sold, he added.
