In the end, no one person will become a billionaire, despite buying a winning ticket to the $1.6 billion drawing, since the three winners will have to share the jackpot. More than 893,000 prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000 were won in the state.
Three Powerball tickets sold in Kentucky were $1 million winners in Wednesday’s drawing.
The New York Lottery website also said 79 third-place winners can claim $50,000.
If you’re reading this, you probably didn’t win the Powerball jackpot Wednesday night.
The Powerball fervor helped North Carolina’s lottery set a record for single-day sales Wednesday, with a total of $27.8 million in sales, including $20.9 million just for Powerball.
Those tickets were sold in Raleigh and in Spring Lake, located in Cumberland County. One was sold in California, another in Tennessee, and a third in Florida. The store was the Food Lion on Williamson Road in Mooresville.
