Veteran CFL kicker Paul McCallum can sympathize with Vikings’ Walsh
I feel for the guy.

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES: The Seahawks burned all three of their first-half timeouts early in the game, the result of some miscommunication and difficulties getting the plays into Wilson.
Although Walsh brushed off the lace issue, Locke was crushed that he did not align them correctly.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer was in no mood to sugarcoat the miss for Walsh. Other Vikings were simply in a state of shock.
The 46-year-old McCallum says knows all to well the anguish of missing a game-winning kick in the playoffs. The kick was shorter than an extra point. Social media hasn’t been kind to Walsh and the Vikings after a defeat that seemed colder than the sub-zero temperatures the game was contested in.
Smith feels no sympathy for Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh.
“I’ve got long johns and some insulated trousers and some bibs and a jacket and about three sweatshirts underneath”.
“I thought the fans were outstanding”.
The field goal unit ultimately is the goat after Walsh missed his 27-yarder. I mean, I remember past year the first game against the Ravens was blistering cold and super windy, and the room for error when it comes to kicking a field goal or kicking off or punting or snapping, it shrinks the worse the conditions (get). “That’s something that will haunt me throughout the offseason”. “He was just threading them all game”. And for much of the game, victory over the two-time defending NFC champion Seahawks appeared within reach. The day after, Sunday January 17, will begin with the Seattle Seahawks playing against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, beginning at 1:05 PM ET, followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers visiting the Denver Broncos, starting at 4:40 PM.
“This football team shouldn’t be going home right now, and that’s hard”, Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway said. It was the second time this season Seattle bottled up Peterson. Instead, the Seahawks advanced with a 10-9 win. With Bridgwater at quarterback the Vikings couldn’t even score a touchdown. “Sometimes you’re fortunate and you get away with it. Sometimes you don’t”. It was a good snap, actually…. “When it’s me out there, I’m just focused on what I’ve got to do to put a good kick out there”.
“It’s so quick that I don’t know what happened”, a teary-eyed Walsh said after the game via ESPN.
MATURING BRIDGEWATER: The growing pains for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater remained, but he mostly performed well down the stretch while the Vikings were trying to secure their spot in the playoffs.
But Kam Chancellor yanked the ball out of Peterson’s arm as he fell to the turf, and Ahtyba Rubin recovered.
“We’re just going to go one day at a time, see what happens, see how it goes”, head coach Pete Carroll said.
After graduating, Walsh played for the University of Georgia’s football team, where he set an NCAA record after kicking at least one field goal in 45 straight games.
“This was really a survival game for both teams”, Carroll said.

Carroll was elated after the miss, throwing his arms into the air. This year, they went 11-5 and won the NFC North with Adrian Peterson capturing the league rushing title and All-Pro first-team honors behind an offensive line that lost two starters in August and struggled throughout the season.
