“The family of David Bowie is now making arrangements for a private ceremony celebrating the memory of their beloved husband, father and friend”, the posting reads. The Bowie memorial concert is planned for March 31, 2016, but unfortunately, fans will just hope to see a video of the event, since all tickets have been sold.

David Bowie had started to record a brand new album in the weeks before his death, his producer has revealed.

The album Blackstar, now seen as Bowie’s self-styled epitaph, is expected to top music charts in Britain and the United States next week.

Their statement came on the heels of news Bowie was reportedly planning a follow-up album to his latest album Blackstar, which went No. 1 in the United Kingdom and No. 2 in the US on iTunes/Amazon.

The Starman singer died on Sunday, 18 months after he was diagnosed and just two days after the release of his final record, Blackstar.

The exact details of the musician’s death haven’t been confirmed yet, but there are reports he was suffering from liver cancer. Visconti tells Rolling Stone, “I was thrilled, and I thought, and he thought, that he’d have a few months, at least”.

His cancer was in remission six months ago, but he was dealt a devastating blow in November when he was told the disease had returned and his condition was terminal, Visconti said. It is also likely to be his first number one album in the US.

After his death the concert has taken on a new significance, and Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney are said to be in talks about singing.
