Blair Walsh visits his 1st-grade fan club – and it’s adorable
Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh missed what would have been a game-winning field goal with just seconds left in the game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Northpoint first-graders had been learning about expressing care for others.
Walsh visited the tykes Thursday at their school, and fielded questions during a meet and greet.
He says he’ll “cherish… forever” the letters the students wrote to him during a lesson on empathy.
The angst over the Minnesota Vikings’ playoff loss Sunday was compounded in the fashion which they lost – a missed “chip shot” field goal by Blair Walsh. It’s great to see six-year-olds with a better life perspective than nearly every adult I know. P.P.P.S. I am really a big fan of you. “These kids, they don’t know anything about me; they just know I’m a Vikings player”.
The FBI says there’s no indication that the man who ambushed a Philadelphia policeman was part of an organized terror cell.
Northpoint teacher Judie Offerdahl said Walsh’s miss became a teachable moment in empathy.
One student called Walsh “the best kicker in the universe”.
The kids wrote letters to Walsh and it turned out fantastic.
That said, there is another segment of the world that – fairly or not – will continue to blister Walsh for that kick. It’s good to be reminded that everyone is human and makes mistakes.

“The fan base that’s not kind, I’m not anxious about. Seriously. That cheered me up a lot”. “And I thought, oh my goodness, my kids are going to be devastated, because the majority of them are Vikings fans, and what’s tomorrow going to be like?”
