Gov. Haley’s SOTU Response: GOP Establishment Rejects Angry Conservatism
Charles Krauthammer on Fox News spoke for many when, following Nikki Haley’s response to President Obama’s address on Tuesday, he called it the best such response he could remember.

In the address, Haley said, “During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation”, Haley said.
Many were impressed with her measured and self-reflective tone, as well as her clear rejection of the GOP front-runners’ rhetoric on the campaign trail.
‘First of all, Nikki, this afternoon, said I’m a friend of hers, actually a close friend, and wherever you’re sitting Nikki, I am a friend, we’re friends, that’s good, ‘ Trump said.
“Mr. Trump has definitely contributed to what I think is just irresponsible talk”, the daughter of Sikh immigrants from India told NBC.
Haley said she does not agree with other candidates on all issues, such as U.S. Sen. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush described her speech as “remarkable” for talking about a “broader hopeful, optimistic Republican message”. “She certainly has no trouble asking me for campaign contributions, because over the years she’s asked me for a hell of a lot of money”.
She is the second India-American to be a Governor of a US State after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, who was elected in 2007.
News 2 asked, “We all know Donald Trump is a front-runner, so do you feel like he’s going to have a target on his back, as far as the other candidates maybe taking some jabs at him Thursday night?” “You see what’s happening”, he said in response to a question. “And it is quite telling to note where in the drive-by media and in the conservative media today she’s being hailed”. “I think that showed in her remarks, and I commend her on a job well done”.
Much of their closed-door discussion will focus on the congressional agenda during an election year, including how to improve the immigration system and defeat Islamic State extremists.
Whether Haley or Ryan can do anything to sideline Trump or Cruz remains to be seen.
Trump has proposed deporting the several million illegal immigrants here in the US, building a wall on the border with Mexico and temporarily halting immigration by Muslims in the wake of the terror attacks in Paris and San Bernardino.

Haley, along with Eric Cantor, John Boehner and the rest of the discredited DC establishment apparently didn’t get the memo that the establishment has lost control of the Republican Party and it no longer has the ability to dictate to the grassroots. I wonder, though, how angry he would be had he not run for president and instead remained just a world-class tycoon, living a “tremendous” life and financing candidates from both parties in order to promote his business interests. “That is just not true”, she said pointedly.
