Blair Walsh speaks to first-graders who sent him cards

“‘The Best Kicker in the Universe” was really amusing.

Walsh returned the good deed with a visit to each of the school’s first-grade classrooms.

The class wrote Walsh letters of support that ranged from heartfelt to amusing, all with the intention of boosting his spirits.

Vikings spokesman Jeff Anderson said the team will make sure Walsh gets the letters.

Walsh is a combination of a confident competitor and self-critic who is determined to bounce back from missing a 27-yard field goal with 26 seconds remaining.

As smart as it may be for Vikings kicker Blair Walsh to avoid public appearances over the next few weeks, he’ll be making one Thursday. And FOX 9 says Walsh wrapped up his appearance by giving autographs and thanking the class again.

Just two months ago, Crosby badly missed a game-winner against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field. “I just didn’t put a swing on it that would be acceptable by anybody’s standards”.

But as first graders will do, they were less interested in Blair Walsh the kicker, and more curious about Blair Walsh the person. As, expected, Walsh’s girlfriend defended him on social media. “I thought what a great lesson it would be for the kids in talking about perseverance”. “For them to show this empathy and kindness toward me is remarkable”.

“All of it is heartwarming to me”, Walsh said. “There have been so many more kind responses that I’ve received than negative, and that shows a lot about Minnesota Vikings fans”, Walsh said. I’m not anxious about the negative ones.
