Hairspray Is NBC’s Next Live Musical So Let’s Suggest The New Cast

“He doesn’t have a drinking problem”- those are the final words in response to speculation that late night TV host Jimmy Fallon has an issue with alcohol, according to the amusing man’s boss at NBC. Mr. Greenblatt said the network is hoping to put on a live musical version of “Hairspray” next December.

The “Tonight” show host hurt himself in falls three times within five months previous year, the most serious in June requiring delicate hand surgery after he caught his ring finger on a countertop. “He goes out and has fun, and he’s had some accidents”. We had a couple businesses that we were doing with him – Apprentice and the [Miss USA and Miss Universe] pageants.

Greenblatt, who cautioned that contracts remain to be signed for Hairspray, said NBC has started a musical trend for other networks.

Hairspray is NBC’s next live musical, chairman Bob Greenblatt confirms.

“I think that if we were in the business of never having anyone guest on the network that had views that disagreed with our views, we would be out of business”.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers air weeknights on NBC.

A live production of the stage musical “Hairspray” may be coming to NBC this year.

It looks like the line between business and entertainment is a blurry one in the entertainment industry. “We’ll try to get bigger overall sponsors in the future, as we do on a lot of shows, which hopefully reduces the ad load”, he said.

So there you have it. Jimmy Fallon’s not a drunk!

Greenblatt also had a playful response to CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller’s comment at TCA yesterday, “I’m just a gay guy from IN who doesn’t play basketball”.
