The Colorado Springs police are crediting a stuffed “Minion” teddy bear for helping to save a 5-year-old girl who fell three stories out of her bedroom. The dolls are said to “talk” and respond to one another.

The youngster escaped with a broken arm after the cuddly toy helped absorb the impact of her plunge on Thursday night in Colorado Springs.

The girl was treated in hospital and later released, with authorities ruling the fall an accident. The child was holding the doll and likely fell at an angle where the Minion toy protected her vital organs from severe injury. She is expected to make a full recovery.

Minions are animated yellow characters made famous by their prominence in the “Despicable Me” movie franchise.

The Minions also had a stunning debut at the U.S. box office last weekend, taking $115.2m (£74.2m). May this little girl have a full and speedy recovery.
