The winning Florida ticket was sold at a Publix grocery store. He says it would be hard to find anything else that has generated this much public interest in the city.

The winning California ticket was sold in Chino Hills. Winners in Tennessee and Florida must claim their winnings within 180 days of Wednesday night’s drawing.

“This is a land of opportunity”, said Atwal.

The winning numbers were 04-08-19-27-34 and the Powerball number was 10.

When he arrived at the store, Atwal found people cheering in the parking lot. During the entire run, Louisiana produced three $1 million winners and 31 winners of the $50,000 prize level, including one who purchased the Power Play option and multiplied their prize to $150,000 and two others who multiplied their prizes to $100,000.

Among the New Jersey Lottery players who won millions across the state in consolation prizes was a $50,000 sold at the ShopRite on Brunswick Pike, the New Jersey Lottery said Thursday. The San Bernardino County suburb is about 35 miles from Los Angeles. Louisiana Lottery retailers are required to pay prizes of $50 or less and are strongly encouraged to pay prizes of up to $600. “I wanted to win it all”, Velasquez said in an interview with Lottery officials.

The winners can opt for annual payments over decades or a lump-sum payment.

The Powerball jackpot had been growing since November, and when it reached $900 million on January 9, people were already shocked and in awe – so imagine the frenzy when it climbed past the number of digits that can be read on the lotto boards!

Clearly, $40 million is NOT chump change, so if you have a few bucks to spare, it may be worth it to invest in some tickets once again for this weekend.

The two other winning tickets were sold in Chino Hills, California; and Munford, Tennessee.

The winners’ identities remained a mystery early Thursday.

The holder of that ticket will share the $1.6 billion jackpot with winners in Southern California and Florida.

That means that Gloria Mackenzie, an 84-year-old woman from Florida, still holds the record as the highest individual victor in a Powerball jackpot after her solo ticket scooped $590.5 million in May 2013.

California Lottery director Hugo Lopez told the AP that ticket sales in California alone reached $179 million in this last draw, the most they’ve ever seen in a four-day period. No more will be forthcoming.

But the shaggy skateboarder and filmmaker did have one thing going for him – he does at least appear to live in California, where one of the three winning tickets was sold.
