With the Giants seemingly poised to promote offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, the Eagles have set their sights on a new coaching candidate: New York’s old coach.

There has been plenty of speculation over the past few hours as to why exactly Tom Coughlin decided that he wasn’t the right fit for the Eagles Head Coaching position but according to a new report.it had nothing to do with the reasons many speculated.
It would be an interesting choice in that Coughlin is 69 years old and had just stepped down as Giants head coach after a 12-year run in which he led them to two Super Bowl victories.
McAdoo has been the Giants offensive coordinator for the past two seasons. But it wasn’t until after talking on Sunday night with two of the most important men in McAdoo’s coaching life that it most assuredly felt like the right move.
“Ben has been preparing for this opportunity since he started coaching, and he has earned his stripes every step of the way”, Giants president John Mara said.
“I have great respect for Coach McAdoo and the whole coaching staff”, Manning said January 4.
He was an offensive coordinator with the Giants, Broncos and Cardinals before general manager George Young hired him as head coach in 1997. “It was very new, and trying to learn, but we bought into it because I trusted him, trusted the offensive staff”.
The team could make an official announcement on Thursday.
“I’m excited”, Eli Manning said in a statement. In McAdoo’s West Coast offense, Manning completed 62.6% of his passes for 4,432 yards, with a career-high 35 touchdowns against 14 interceptions in 2015.
Coughlin was beaten in his last game by Eagles interim head coach Shurmur, the second interviewee for the head coaching job.
