Garde admits struggles of attracting players to Aston Villa

“We’ve got a couple of knocks, so we’ll have to see how they are this morning”.

They are seven points behind second bottom Sunderland and tensions boiled over after Villa failed to beat League Two Wycombe on Saturday.

Richards attempted to appease the fans but it was the latest sorry episode in a miserable season.

Villa return to league matters in midweek when they host Crystal Palace at Villa Park on Tuesday night, as they look to make some inroads in moving out of the relegation zone.

“The day I feel that I’m not able to do any positive things for this big football club you will know it”.

“As a manager I’ve never been involved in this kind of situation. I have no regrets about coming here”.

“This game would be worth £144,000 if it screened live on TV, which we hope it will be now of course”.

Michael Harriman, signed from Queens Park Rangers last week for a “nominal fee”, is the only player to have cost any money in Ainsworth’s squad.

“I understand the Chelsea manager has been a little bit upset hearing me speak about one of his players, so this week I won’t make any more comments about it”, Garde said.

Agbonlahor has been made available for transfer this summer and there is even a suggestion he could be allowed to leave for free if there is a club prepared to take him off Villa’s hands.

“It was a really hard game to scout because in the last 12 games they’ve changed formation or personnel 10 times”.

“We’ll see what happens up at Villa Park, we’ll be giving our all again”.

Highlights for Villa fans will be the first half performance of Micah Richards, who played well at RB, as well as the debut of the impressive Jordan Lyden, who seemed to offer so much more than both Gana and Westwood in midfield.

Naturally, with this being Aston Villa and all, it soon turned sour.

“Fair enough to Micah Richards to courageous the fans and try and explain the situation to them”.

“I warned the players at half-time that we had to keep the level otherwise they would find a way back in, so I don’t know why we didn’t manage to keep that up”. To buy a player you have to work very hard.
