Dolphins land Gase as National Football League head coach

Adam Gase, the Dolphins’ new head coach who is regarded as one of the NFL’s brightest young offensive minds, said Saturday he’ll have the most influence on quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s development, more than the offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach.

The Dolphins also didn’t rule out the possibility Dan Campbell, their interim coach for the final 12 games this season, will be part of Gase’s staff. “I’d love to see Dan stay in the organization, ” Ross said.

The Browns confirmed they have interviewed candidates in the following order: Gase, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, Jacksonville Jaguars assistant head coach/offensive line coach Doug Marrone and Henderson. “He has high-energy is competitive and driven to win with a mindset of teaching and developing players”. You’ve got your work cut out for you.

Gase comes to Miami from the Chicago Bears, where he served as offensive coordinator the 2015 season.

“I’m very happy for Adam”, Manning said Saturday.

The Giants know plenty of people who can vouch for Gase besides Peyton Manning.

Either way, Gase seems destined to become a head coach at some point.

“If Gase leaves or not, we can do a lot of things similar offensively too”, Pace said this week.

But then-Bears coach Marc Trestman was sacked, and he was replaced by John Fox, who brought offensive coordinator Adam Gase with him from Denver.

The Miami Dolphins have reportedly set up a second interview with Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase, and the two sides are reportedly close to finalizing the deal.

Tannehill, the eighth overall selection in the 2012 draft, had a breakout season in 2014, but regressed this season as the Dolphins went 6-10. He has no head coaching experience but has been a target of coaching searches for at least three years.

But in case the Giants are looking for another reference on Gase’s resume, their former safety Antrel Rolle offered one this week in a radio interview on WFAN.

Miami has also met with former National Football League coaches Mike Shanahan and Mike Smith. But he helped Cutler reduce his turnovers and post a career-high passer rating of 92.3.

Gase worked at LSU for three seasons (2000-02) under Nick Saban, starting off as a defensive graduate assistant in 2000 before working in recruiting from 2001-02.
