Mini launches John Cooper Works Convertible
That means it’s about 20bhp up on the previous-gen JCW Convertible and 39bhp up on the MINI Cooper S Convertible.

The John Cooper Works edition gets its own special TwinPower turbo 2-litre four-cylinder unit.
Pricing for the 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible opens at $26,800 with the Cooper C version starting at $30,450 and the 2016 Mini JCW Convertible commencing at $36,450.
But let’s talk about the fun stuff.
MINI’s latest addition to their high-performance JCW stable is the drop-top, a favorite of city slickers in warm climates all over the country.
The JCW hardtop is now the most powerful Mini on the market. Just three months after the standard convertible’s unveiling at the Tokyo Motor Show, the hot John Cooper Works edition is already racing on to the scene. Dynamic dampers with adjustable modes are available as an option. In fact, you could have guessed the specs even before the hardtop model arrived: 228 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, courtesy of its 2.0-liter four-pot. It goes from 80 – 120 km/h in 6.1 seconds and a has a top speed of 242 km/h (automatic: 240 km/h). In most other respects, though, the equipment list is identical to that of the standard Cooper.
The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard; a 6-speed Steptronic sport transmission available as an option. That automatic folding convertible top includes a slide-back sunroof feature and a glass rear window, a MINI logo gets projected onto the ground as a welcome light from the driver-side mirror, and there’s a 12-color ambient interior lighting feature.
The standard trim includes Brembo sports brake system, 17-inch John Cooper Works light alloy wheels Track Spoke silver and speed-related Servotronic steering support; Dynamic Damper Control available as an option; Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) as standard with DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), EDLC (Electronic Differential Lock Control) and Performance Control.
But Minis in general, and John Cooper models in particular, are about the all-round driving sensation.

The interior also features a JCW leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and shift paddles in conjunction with the 6-speed Steptronic sport transmission, John Cooper Works gearshift or selector lever, cockpit displays and central instrument surround in model-specific design and pedals and driver footrest in stainless steel.
