Donald Trump comments used by Somali extremists to recruit followers

Al-Shabaab, Al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Somalia, posted a video Friday that includes a clip of Trump calling for a ban on Muslims entering the United States.

The 52-minute al-Shabab video used a sound byte from Trump’s proposed ban, along with footage from noted racist Malcolm X to convince Muslims that the U.S.is a racist country and will turn on its Muslim community, according to CNN.

“Now people are getting involved” in the issue, he told CBS News. Trump hopeful said people had praised his courage in truthfully highlighting a “problem” that others preferred to ignore. “And you [know] what I have to say?”

Two weeks ago, Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton said during a Democratic candidates’ debate that Islamic State had used Trump’s criticism of Muslims in recruiting videos.

USA media outlets were unable to find any footage evidence to back up Clinton s initial claim. He added that the United States would not be able to solve the problem unless it is able to identify it.

Trump’s comments are sandwiched between excerpts of previous video messages from the late radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki who predicts the persecution of Muslims in the U.S.

He continues, “People that are on different persuasions than me right now John are saying, ‘You know maybe Trump isn’t wrong”. “The terrorists want us to act like we’re at war with Islam”.

“They’ve created ISIS. Hillary Clinton created ISIS with Obama”, Trump said. The Al-Shabab video was uploaded onto Twitter by the Al-Kataib Media Foundation a regular conduit for the group’s propaganda material SITE said.

At a rally last night (Jan 2) in Biloxi, Mississippi, Mr Trump pointed to his candidacy as the right one to challenge “certain advantages” that Democrats have electorally.

Trump says it’s no surprise extremists would try to capitalize on words of a Republican presidential front-runner. Al-Shabab is fighting the internationally backed Somali government and has carried out many guerrilla attacks there and in countries contributing troops to the effort to stabilize security.

The recruitment video cites other injustices against African-Americans and police brutality and urges “them to convert to Islam and engage in jihad at home or overseas”.
