Steven Avery files new appeal

Avery was convicted of first-degree intentional homicide in the death of photographer Teresa Halbach a decade ago.

Morry Gash/AP Steven Avery’s defense attorney Dean Strang unsuccessfully argued during the trial that Avery would not be receiving a fair trial and that the officers have been attempting to frame Avery after his first wrongful conviction.

In the appeal, Avery says the notions of preconceived guilt from this juror deprived him of an impartial jury trial and this coincides with what we were shown in the documentary after Richard Mahler had to leave due to an emergency.

Sheriff Robert Hermann, of Manitowoc County, said he had not seen the appeal but said the investigation had been proper. An online petition has collected hundreds of thousands of digital signatures seeking a pardon for the pair of convicted killers-turned-social media sensations based on a Netflix documentary series that cast doubt on the legal process.

The programme was slammed by authorities for being “biased” but the filmmakers have stood by their work.

Avery says in new legal documents made available to TMZ that the search that ultimately produced incriminating evidence, including blood stains and the key to Halbach’s vehicle, was illegal.

The latest filings were received by the Second District Court of Appeals on Monday, and include a request from Avery to be released on bond.

The motions – apparently filed without the aid of a lawyer, judging from their numerous grammar and spelling errors – make striking allegations of bias against a juror identified only by initials, CW. Other motions were also filed.

“The law firm of Kathleen T. Zellner and Associates, P.C.in Chicago will be assuming the full and complete representation of Avery in all of his pending criminal matters”.

However in a statement on the We The People site, the White House said the President couldn’t free Avery.

The rap, “They Didn’t Do It”, proclaims Dassey and Avery’s innocence in the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.
