Celine Dion’s husband Rene Angelil died of cancer on Thursday.

“The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment; more details will be provided at a later time”, it continued.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted his condolences to Celine Dion, their children, friends and “loved ones of Rene Angelil on his passing” while Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard called Angelil “engaged, passionate, talented and courageous”.

Here’s hoping Dion and her three sons, Nelson, Eddy and René-Charles, are able to find some peace. To show support to her ailing husband, Dion put her career on hold.

The site lists February 23 as Dion’s potential return date to The Colosseum, and notes automatic refunds will be issued to fans who used credit cards to purchase tickets to either of the canceled shows. She was 12-years-old at the time, but both Angelil and Kaye recognized her huge talent. It is said that he mortgaged his house to help her release her first album. The “My Heart Will Go On” singer revealed that she was pregnant with triplets but miscarried one of the babies. When the cancer recurred, Dion took leave from her Las Vegas residency to take care of him.

Dion and Angelil struggled with fertility issues throughout their marriage, eventually conceiving their first child in 2001, followed by twins in 2010.

Although, he was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998, his death was totally unexpected.
