Wins and losses pondered after Golden Globes
The 73rd annual Golden Globes had a few curveballs up its sleeves, and the biggest ones weren’t even from acerbic host Ricky Gervais, who kept the show alive with his biting quips and takedowns of the business that the awards were celebrating.

“There are only 82 people from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association voting for the Golden Globes while 6,200 vote for the Oscars, and all of them are associated with the actual making of film”, Feinberg said.
Mad Men actor John Hamm has won the Best Actor award in a Television Series.
“The Revenant” – the story of 19th century fur trapper Hugh Glass, played by Leonardo DiCaprio – won three top awards at the star-studded gala, for best drama, best actor (DiCaprio) and best director (Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu).
In what is probably the year’s most competitive category, best actress in a drama, Brie Larson won out over Cate Blanchett (“Carol”) and Saoirse Ronan (“Brooklyn) for her affecting performance as a woman in captivity in “Room“.
The Golden Globes Awards ceremony has wrapped up for the evening. “Mr Robot“, about a computer programmer and vigilante hacker, took home the prize for best drama series. There’s also talk that Vikander being nominated for best supporting actress is “category fraud”, being that she essentially plays an equal role to the film’s lead character. The Best Performance in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy – Actress was given to fellow first-time victor, Rachel Bloom. She was so nervous and honored. Tambor won an Emmy as well as last year’s Golden Globe for his performance in Transparent, and stood head and shoulders above his fellow-nominees, including Bernal.
Experts point out that neither of last year’s Globes best picture winners-“Boyhood” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel”-ended up with an Oscar”. Unfortunately, Netflix was shut out at the awards show.
