Leicester turn heat on Arsenal in EPL

Vardy returned to play after 71 minutes of Leicester’s 1-0 win at Tottenham on Wednesday and Ranieri expects him to be fine for England’s European Championship campaign in the summer.

The sides drew 2-2 in the FA Cup on Sunday and now face each other again in the Premier League this evening.

43 – Leicester City have already taken more points this season (43) than they did throughout the entire 2014-15 season (41).

Yet those may have to be revised after they went to Tottenham, who have their own title hopes, and clinched a superb win after Huth scored a bullet header from a corner.

“I am frustrated by the result and not disappointed by the performance even if we started a bit apprehensively”, the Arsenal manager said.

“There were a lot of players who haven’t played consistently in the Premier League and it was an important chance for them to show they can fight for a start in the team”, the coach told www.tottenhamhotspur.com.

Manchester City were unable to trim the gap on Arsenal, who they remain three points behind, as they were held to a 0-0 stalemate with Everton at the Etihad Stadium.

“It’s only January. It’s not May”, Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri cautioned.

Striker Jamie Vardy and winger Mahrez have netted 28 goals between them this season but both were off the park when Huth headed an 83rd minute victor, which ended a run of 374 minutes without a goal. “It works for them and it’s a shame we didn’t win the game”.

This game looked to be going the same way until Huth headed home his first of the season eight minutes from time.

Italian boss Ranieri believes the league’s established superpowers are just being polite when they talk up “little Leicester” as championship challengers in public.

They won their last match and now they are confident. It could be. Maybe Saturday we are thinking about the Tottenham match, but we must forget that, it’s not important now.

With three consecutive league clean sheets, KASPER SCHMEICHEL (£1.5m) offers good value and CHRISTIAN FUCHS (£1.5m) is now into the DT top ten for defenders.

“I wouldn’t think he would want to leave”.

Defoe scored 143 goals across two spells at Tottenham and Pochettino added: “We need to be careful of all opponents and Defoe is a great player, a great scorer”.
