David’s tragic death was announced on Monday after revelations that he had been battling cancer for 18 months.

“Over the years, we have performed David Bowie’s music both at live shows and just futzing around in the rehearsal space”, Toadies guitarist Clark Vogeler says in one of the band’s reminiscences on the website.

He said Bowie was “a visionary and ground-breaking pioneer …”

Bowie became the oldest recipient of a Brit Award when he picked up the Best British Male honor at the 2014 event.

For reasons undisclosed, Bowie kept his illness a secret, but he did, however, release his latest album, Blackstar, on January 8 with seven tracks that threw hints to his fans about the “terminal nature of his condition”. Bowie released 25 records over his career including legendary opuses like The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Station to Station, and many others.

Singer Tina Turner paid tribute to the singer, saying “a piece of my heart has broken”.

Stars including Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney could be among those invited to play.

Martin Talbot, Official Charts Company Executive, said that David’s chart success proved his “continuing relevance” in the music industry.

“I knew for a year this was the way it would be, I wasn’t, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life”.

Most people would be satisfied with the life of a bonafide rock star, or being hailed as one of the most well-respected musicians of their time, but Bowie needed to more.

Following David’s death, Channel 5 had to inform Angie, who was insulated from the news in the Big Brother house, that her husband from 1970 to 1980 had passed away.
