Klopp hails Ferguson as the ‘John Lennon of football’
“For a football manager it’s almost the best thing you can do”, Klopp said, recalling his path crossing with the Scot.

“I needed 10 minutes to understand his language, but then it was OK!”
“Maybe he is the greatest ever, the John Lennon of football or something like this, that’s really impressive to talk with him”. “From my side there is a big amount of respect”. I have a big respect for me because of what he has done in his life before and it’s not easy for another manager to do that.
“We spoke”, Klopp is quoted as saying by Daily Mail. “We spoke not a lot but, for me, it was a lot”. We can make a big step but not the biggest step.
“We could have done better, we could have done worse, some ideal moments, some average moments”. “But… you are two weeks without a player so you think “OK we take another one” but in two weeks you have one too much or two too much”.
Klopp was pleased to hear Ferguson had praised his ability and spoken of his worry at how his presence could challenge United.
Jurgen Klopp has signed a deal to promote a German beer in England for the next four years.
The German was approached by Ferguson as he moved toward the end of his 27-year reign at Old Trafford, but Klopp felt the timing was wrong to walk away from Borussia Dortmund.
“I am not too close with the news about Manchester United in the last week”. ‘There but for the grace of God go I, ‘ was his sentiment yesterday when he discussed Louis van Gaal’s travails. He has won a lot of titles, not only in Germany.
“In football the most important thing is the results and we are going for it, I think everyone can see that”.
He said: “Everyone needs time”. We both want to be successful and both need to work towards getting there. We have similar possession in games I think but we are different characters. “Maybe I’m more lively on the touchline than him, but sometimes that is not always good”.
And the fact United is now sixth in the Premier League table – 9 points behind leader Arsenal – has not helped Van Gaal win over fans.
