All Signs Point to Marshawn Lynch Playing the Panthers

In typical Marshawn fashion, Lynch broke the news without much fuss, simply sending ESPN’s Kenny Mayne a two word text “I’m ready”, as reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN. Carroll has cautioned at every turn that Lynch is day-to-day, perhaps wary of assuming anything with regards to his status given the way he was also a full participant all last week only to determine following Friday’s workout that he couldn’t play.

“Bags are packed”, Seattle coach Pete Carroll said about his running back after the Seahawks concluded their final practice. “He was faster and more explosive than last week”.

Meanwhile, ESPN added in its report that if Lynch travels with the Seahawks to Carolina ahead of their divisional playoff game versus the Panthers, it suggests that he has made “real progress”.

Lynch has been out of the Seahawks’ lineup since November 15th, when he underwent surgery to fix an abdominal issue that had been plaguing him all season.

Having missed a couple of games with a concussion, Willson’s (17 receptions, 213 yards, 1 TD) importance to the team at the tight end position increased dramatically late in the season when starting tight end Jimmy Graham went down with a season-ending knee injury. “You can see that he made improvement”. In typical Lynch fashion, he went through the rehab “his way”, working out with a personal trainer down in San Francisco while the team went about their business trying to make it to the playoffs and give him a shot to return.

“I don’t think there’s any question, ” Carroll said.

“It’s an awesome sign for us”, Carroll said.

But as Carroll had said earlier when asked what the Seahawks could expect out of Lynch this weekend: “Have you been around here very long with Marshawn and all of that?”

But Carroll said Lynch is ahead of where he was then. He chose to not go on that trip to the game.

The Seahawks are scheduled to head off to Charlotte Friday afternoon and it is expected that Lynch will be on that flight as the Seahawks get set to take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon. He just has a different feel to him, he has different movements to him, makes cuts that really there’s not many guys in the league that can make cuts the way that he makes them, as we’ve all seen, and the balance that he has. Wilson said Seattle’s game plan isn’t changing with Lynch back behind him again.
