New York Republicans Rip Ted Cruz on ‘New York Values’

They also clashed over Cruz’s charge in a radio interview that Trump has “New York Values”.

The Texas senator’s use of “New York values” as a term of abuse during Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate rankled plenty of city residents.

The Cruz lawsuit, filed in Texas on Thursday by Newton Boris Schwartz Sr., raises legal uncertainty about whether Cruz qualifies for the constitutional requirement that a president be a “a natural-born citizen” because he was born in Canada.

Cruz was ready. “Back in September, my friend Donald said he had his lawyers look at this in every which way and there was no issue there”.

“Ted Cruz insulted the people of NY and by the way (it was) blatantly hypocritical on his part”, he said on CNN.

Rubio, in third place behind Trump and Cruz in Iowa and hoping a strong outcome there will help him in the New Hampshire primary on February 9, frequently inserted himself into arguments and tried to put pressure on Cruz.

Lindsey Graham announced he is backing Jeb Bush for the Republican presidential nomination, praising the former Florida governor’s approach to national security.

Because everybody hates NY, right?

“There’s a big question mark over your head, and you can’t do that to the party”, said Trump during the debate. Cruz was asked to explain the meaning of the remark and explained that its residents can revolve around “money and media”.

‘The Constitution hasn’t changed, Cruz said, referring to the provision that a person must be a natural born citizen to become president – “but the poll numbers have”.

“People are waking up, and just like millions of New Yorkers, they are fed up with policies that don’t fight for the working men and women of this country, but instead further the elite liberal views that have taken this country down a path that is not working”, Cruz said.

“I am from NY”.

Trump says “y’know, he’s a good debater, but he’s very strident, and a lot of people are not going to like that”.

But King pushed back against the comments, repeating Trump’s defense of New York City during 9/11, saying that people from all around the city responded and that New Yorkers served and died in the war in Iraq. By Friday morning, #NewYorkValues was one of the top trending hashtags in the U.S.

‘And I have to tell you, that was a very insulting statement that Ted made’. Cruz leveled the claim in response to a question about Trump playing Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” at campaign rallies.

Alongside Trump and Cruz on the main stage was Marco Rubio and Chris Christie, fighting to emerge as an alternative to Cruz and Trump.
