‘Martian,’ ‘Revenant’ get awards boost with top Golden Globes wins
Best actress went to Brie Larson, the breakout star of the captive mother-son drama “Room”. Under Motion Picture, “The Martian” won the Comedy or Musical category, while “The Revenant” bagged the award for Drama.

Lawrence, 25, dedicated most of her speech to thanking “Joy” director David O. Russell, with whom she has made several films.
“It was an unbelievable, visceral, tactile sort of sequence that makes people really feel like they’re there, and yes it was incredibly hard to do, but we rehearsed for weeks beforehand for just that sequence”, DiCaprio said. She also beat out her friend Amy Schumer in the category.
“Steve Jobs”, a controversial look at the late Apple co-founder that floundered at the box office despite warm reviews, took home Golden Globes for supporting actress Kate Winslet, and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. Despite some outliers in the nominee ranks, the film acting awards went to a more expected lot.
After forgetting to thank her fiancé Taylor Kinney while accepting the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie, Lady Gaga made up for the snafu in an emotional Instagram post.
Best animated film went to Pixar’s acclaimed “Inside Out”.
The big television winners included USA’s “Mr. Robot”, Taraji P. Henson for “Empire” and Jon Hamm for “Mad Men”. Best comedy series was a similar upset, with Amazon’s “Mozart in the Jungle”, winning over the HBO heavyweight “Veep”.
Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement honoree Denzel Washington also fumbled his way through his speech, which generally serves as a poignant respite in an otherwise irreverent evening.
Gervais spared little time before laying into the HFPA and the awards’ network, NBC, which he noted had no nominations.
During Gervais’ attempts to remind celebs that “no one cares about their awards more than themselves” Twitter went hard. One of his three Globes, Gervais said, he stuffs up his rear.

Neither “Boyhood” (drama) nor “The Grand Budapest Hotel” (comedy) won Oscars a year ago, even though they did win Golden Globes.
