Tom Coughlin Leaves Door Open On Coaching Again
So needless to say, he has become beloved among Giants fans and within the organization itself. “I have spent 15 years with this organization as an assistant and head coach and was fortunate to be part of three Super Bowl winning teams”, he said.

Now that Coughlin has chose to leave – the Giants, not necessarily coaching – Belichick took the opportunity on Tuesday to express his appreciation for the man whose teams twice denied the Patriots a Super Bowl victory.
Coughlin’s final record as Giants head coach is 110-92, including playoff games.
Coughlin was named the head coach of the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995 and actually led them to the AFC Conference Championship in 1996, where they lost to his mentor Bill Parcells and friend Bill Belichick with the Patriots. “It’s been an honor and a privilege for me to be the 16th head coach of the New York Giants”.
Julio Cortez/AP An emotional Eli Manning is saying goodbye to the only coach he has known as an NFL QB. “I take full responsibility for every player that’s been on this roster from the time I’ve been director of player personnel until right now, so I’ll take full responsibility-even though everybody’s involved with the grading players, and the players we take”. JPP’s offseason incident hurt the Giants, as he was their best defensive player.
Coughlin hasn’t mentioned retirement-he’s still spry, at 69 years old-so he might stick around for an opening at another team.
Eli Manning, who developed into a two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback under Coughlin, praised his former head coach. “He’s passionate about everything that he does, and you see that with his football and his job and being around the young guys, and he enjoys that”.
The Giants won Super Bowl XLII in 2007 and XLVI in 2011 but had three straight losing seasons for the first time since 1980.
“It is hard to come up with words adequate to describe the appreciation we have for everything Tom Coughlin has done for our franchise”, Mara said.
“Twelve years is a long time to be a head coach in the NFL”, Mara said. I asked him to think about it over the next few days, ways that he might be able to help us going forward.

With that being said Coughlin is a still great coach and he is on his way to the football hall of fame.
