Trump supporters slam Haley for immigration remark

Nikki Haley had one condition when asked to deliver the Republican response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address: It’s my speech.

“During anxious times”, she continued, “it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices” (this line, she acknowledged Wednesday on NBC’s “Today”, was aimed in part at GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump).

Haley told a national audience Tuesday night that Republicans have not been as inclusive as they should be, specifically pointing to Donald Trump’s comments about banning Muslim emigrants to the United States. “I am angry. I’m angry, and a lot of other people are angry too at how incompetently our country is being run. I think that this country is better when we work together and acknowledge the fact that the fabric of America is based on legal immigrants of all professions, of all races, of all religions”, she said.

And while Haley’s not looking to square-up with Trump, she defended her remarks and dismissed Coulter as one of those “angry voices” she spoke of in her response. But until then, Trump said he would remain “very, very angry”. “Trump should deport Nikki Haley” tweeted conservative commentator Ann Coulter, responding to Gov. Haley’s comments about protecting legal immigration.

“All this comes on the back of a strong year that saw her prospects in the veepstakes improve as Haley signed off on legislation removing the Confederate flag from Columbia and oversaw a state battered by a tragic massacre and a massive flood”, the Politico said.

“She comes up to my office when she wants campaign contributions and I’ve given her tremendous contribution over the years”, Trump said. She also hewed closely to GOP demands in the immigration debate, saying: “That does not mean we just flat out open our borders”, and said the Usa should refuse entry to refugees “whose intentions can not be determined”.

Believe me. I am sick and exhausted of criticizing the president. ” ‘This is just something that we just learned in SC that I’m passing along”.

Dr. Bob Oldendick, a USC political scientist, says Gov. Haley’s speech was different from previous ones because she didn’t go through the president’s State of the Union address point by point.

“Well, considering I’m leading in the polls by a lot, I wouldn’t say she’s off to a good start” to be his vice presidential candidate, Trump said.

While her speech was strongly praised by many Republicans on Capitol Hill, the reaction from some of Trump’s sympathizers was harsh. And I – and they feel like I do. “I think we’re seeing it across the country”. “I think she disqualified herself by her response to the address because immigration is such a pivotal issue for Americans right now”.
