Matt Damon won the Best actor in a comedy for “The Martian” but his win was more of a buzz boost for an Oscar nomination. Instead, the Globes had a particularly unraveled atmosphere that included Jonah Hill dressed as the bear from “The Revenant”, copious discussion of “Transparent” star Jeffrey Tambor’s male anatomy by Gervais, and much buzzing about Sean Penn’s escapade with Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. While Damon hadn’t yet read the article, he explained, “It’s nothing new, actors… and writers for that matter… going an seeking out meetings like this”. The actor added, “It’s part of, you know, what we do to do our job really well”.

The organization awarded the actor his third best actor Golden Globe Sunday (he previously won it for “The Aviator” and “The Wolf of Wall Street”), securing his position as the favorite to win his first (and long-overdue) Academy Award for “The Revenant”.

He also praised the film’s lead actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, saying working with him had been the best experience of his life. “I’m waiting to see what he does next”.

In the television categories, USA Network’s “Mr. Robot”, a cyber-security expert with social anxiety, surprised some by winning best TV drama series while Amazon’s musical show “Mozart in the Jungle” won best TV comedy series. “She’s gonna be fine”, J-Law laughed.
