Heat advisories were issued Friday afternoon (July 17) for Monroe County, and nearby communities in southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio. The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Right now, I have us landing at 99° and feeling like 110°.

Wednesday night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, low around 62. Even in 70 degree weather, the inside temperature of a vehicle can increase to over 100 degrees in just 20 minutes, city officials said. However, highs never drop below 94°. A heat advisory is in effect in Mercer, Burlington and some other counties west of Monmouth and Ocean.

Corvallis: Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 96. Consequently, people living in urban areas may be at greater risk from the effects of a prolonged heat wave than those living in rural areas. Be safe!
The early warning signs of heat stress are decreased energy, slight loss of appetite, faintness, light-headedness and nausea. Later today expect hot, humid and breezy conditions with highs in the upper 90s.
