Bernie Sanders to campaign in Sioux City

Sen. Bernie Sanders seems to have thrown a tough challenge at the former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.

I really don’t think Clinton could sink low enough to consciously take such a odd shot at Sanders’ grandkids, but history has shown she’s not exactly a master at the classy insult.

It’s unclear whether Clinton’s attack will hurt Sanders.

Sanders’ presence is strongest among the younger voters, while Clinton leads among women and the older group, according to the poll. Clinton’s situation in New Hampshire is also worse than in 2008.

“Fourth grade social studies”, Clinton said.

Sanders told reporters in New Hampshire that “They’re mad at me today, they’re mad at me yesterday, they’re mad at me tomorrow”. Public attacks on his plans for a single-payer health care system, for example, appear to have had little effect.

Or how about this one from the Sanders campaign, released Thursday, where the Vermont Senator says, “There are two Democratic visions for regulating Wall Street”.

Clinton officially entered the race on April 12th with a two-minute long video and a tweet.

The surge in contributions comes in the wake of interviews and speeches by Mrs. Clinton in which she questioned his electability in a general election against a Republican opponent and called attention to his vote for a 2005 bill that shielded gun manufacturers from liability lawsuits. Clinton’s doctor determined she was “fit to serve” as president, while noting that she does suffer from “hypothyroidism and seasonal allergies”.

While Bill Clinton remains a popular figure among Democrats, some of the key achievements of his administration form the basis of Sanders’ critique against his wife — that she’s too willing to compromise liberal ideals for political gain. A Fox News Poll released last week showed Sanders with a commanding 13 point lead in the Granite State, with a 50-37 point margin. But the crosstabs of the poll reveal three main demographic fault lines between Clinton and Sanders supporters: gender, age, and race. And I guess at the end of the day, for me – you know, people talk about (chuckle) their extraordinary grandchildren, but I actually have one – and we’re going to do everything we can to give her opportunities…

Even her daughter, Chelsea Clinton, has stepped into the fray, charging that Sanders wants to “dismantle” Obamacare and Medicare. Many in the Democratic establishment are assuming he can’t.

NBC/Douglas Gorenstein/NBC It didn’t bother Hillary Clinton that Donald Trump mentioned her when he was on with Jimmy Fallon earlier this week.

The battle between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders is heating up.
