Was physically abused as a struggling actress in Bollywood: Kangana Ranaut

The actress, who is known for her open-heart nature, claimed that she was abused when she was just 17.

Mumbai: Bollywood Actress, Kangana Ranaut at the launch of journalist Barkha Dutt’s book, “The Unquiet Land”, spoke about days when she was a struggling actress. The experience also made her a badass.

Here’s what she said, according to Indian Express: “It was a very hard and very harsh time”. I don’t have to go into details of it. I felt trapped. “I was abused. I don’t need to visit details”. There’s no acceptance for the fact that this woman doesn’t want or that she doesn’t have feelings for me. Barkha Dutt asked “Was it someone from the film industry?” .

Kangana stated, “It was an incredibly severe and very challenging period”.

“So I’ve been through struggle for 10 years, and I think that’s what shaped me up as a person today”.

Describing this assault as an eye-opener, she said she realized then “There are no free lunches”. “But when you are naive and young, you do fall for it”.

But in certain specifics, the celebrity did reveal after some prodding from Barkha.

The actress also said that for defending herself she hit the abuser on his head with “a sandal, but eventually his physical strength overpowered mine”. Post that I went to the cops and filed an FIR against him. “I had never really tested myself before in such extreme situations”. She had always wanted to have her own place which would serve as the ideal place to sink into solitude whenever she gets time off from her professional commitments. On work front, the actress is shooting for her next film ‘Rangoon’ with Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. “And when you lose something or face failure, it’s about how you deal with it and not lose your self-respect and self-worth”, added Kangana.
