But the deal has sparked harsh criticism from conservatives in both nations, including among Republican presidential candidates.

Rouhani welcomed the IAEA announcement.
“Israel would continue to monitor Iran’s worldwide violations of the nuclear agreement and the ballistic missiles agreement, as well as its involvement with terrorism”, Netanyahu said on Sunday at the start of a weekly cabinet meeting, Xinhua reported.
Verified by the United Nations nuclear agency, Iran has done all the steps to address world concerns in scaling back its nuclear plan, including freezing much of its nuclear material production, which could be used to build nuclear bombs.
He said his agency had been working on the Iran nuclear issue since 2003 and that following Saturday’s announcement, the IAEA was “ready to get on with the job”.
“The nuclear negotiations which succeeded by the guidance of the Supreme Leader and support of our nation, were truly a golden page in Iran’s history”, he said.
“Today, as a result of the actions taken since last July, the United States, our friends and allies in the Middle East, in the entire world are safer because the threat of a nuclear weapon has been reduced” – US Secretary of State John Kerry.
A fifth American, Matthew Trevithick, was also freed by Iran authorities Saturday outside of the swap.
In return, the US will either pardon or drop charges against seven Iranians – six of whom are dual citizens – accused or convicted of violating USA sanctions. These include “access to the United States financial sector for non-US persons engaged in significant transactions with Iranian individuals or entities”, according to Katherine Bauer, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute.
The International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) is expected to issue a report over Iran’s compliance of the nuclear deal which would trigger the comprehensive relief of nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Tehran, Iran and European Union are also expected to give a joint statement over the implementation of the deal. Most will be lifted immediately.
The implementation of the deal would also release about $100 billion of Iran’s assets and make it easier for India and other countries to do business with Tehran.
“The government is running the country under sanctions not under normal circumstances”. Iran says it has the right to nuclear energy – and stresses that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes only.

On Saturday, the global nuclear watchdog IAEA declared that Iran had finally terminated its nuclear programme as part of a deal it struck with the West past year. The agreement puts Iran’s various nuclear activities under IAEA watch for up to 15 years, with an option to re-impose sanctions should Tehran break its commitments.
