Paul Scholes encouaged by Red Devils performance against Newcastle
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has criticised his players after they were held to a 3-3 draw by English Premier League (EPL) strugglers Newcastle United.

Striker Mitrovic claims the snipers are nuts to write off Manchester United frontman Rooney after watching the Englishman’s five-star display at St James’ Park in the sides’ 3-3 draw on Tuesday.
“It’s my second time to play against him and I got his shirt afterwards”, Mitrovic said.
“If you take a two-goal lead, we should be taking all three points and killing the game off.
We have given it away”.
“We could have scored six but you have to score one more than the opponent”. We have scored three goals but only have one point. Rooney is naturally aware of this shortcoming. We were composed; we were keeping the ball and creating chances and all of a sudden [it came] from nothing. “Obviously we know that s our aim, that s what we work on every day at the training ground. Sometimes it’s hard but on nights like tonight we did it so we need to keep working and keep trying to improve”, he stated.
By the end, we actually had more possession (54 per cent to 46) than Manchester United…
But, while Paul Dummett’s 90th-minute equaliser for Newcastle took a hefty deflection off Smalling, Steve McClaren arguably had considerably greater cause to be aggrieved by the refereeing.
“They have to finish of course but it is always hard”.
A clearly frustrated and emotional Scholes said United’s players looked bored after a 1-0 cup win that “was not good enough”.
John added that Van Gaal can be a “weird guy the way he behaves with the press and in the after-match comments that he makes”. “But we have to blame ourselves because we could have finished this match much earlier with big chances from Lingard and Fellaini and we didn’t do that”.

The 26-year-old was astonished to see referee Mike Dean, who had earlier awarded United a penalty for handball against Chancel Mbemba, point to the spot after allowing a series of other tussles go.
