Not many athletes had a worse Sunday than Blair Walsh.
By now everyone knows that Blair Walsh missed a 27 yard field last Sunday the would have won the Vikings the game.
GREENE: The students sent Walsh letters to cheer him up. “It was very touching to me”.
It was a nice moment that humanizes the whole thing.
He has a streak of 18 straight postseason field goals after making both attempts against the Redskins.

Luca’s teacher, Judie Offerdahl, was watching too. “I just felt for him. That kind of adds to it. But I’ll think he’ll be just fine”.
Then came the letters, words of wisdom reflecting brightness that children’s minds can convey.
Luca Sciara didn’t hold back.
The 25-year-old stopped by to tell the first-graders he was “shocked” by their kindness and to say thank you “from the bottom of my heart”.
A classmate suggested puppies might be a good consolation.
Walsh said one of his favorite cards labeled him as the “Greatest Kicker In The Universe” – a sentiment he understands most Vikings fans will not agree with at this juncture. And going. And going.
One kid called Walsh “the best kicker in the universe”.
The kick that could have given the Vikings a win over Seattle in the wild-card playoff game on Sunday. With the Vikings down by a point, he had a chance to kick his fourth field goal of the day and essentially beat the Seattle Seahawks-there were just seconds remaining.
When the letter campaign made headlines, Walsh organized to meet his young – and now perhaps only – fans.
“Oh, it’s up there”, he said.
