ET has reached out to Pinkett Smith’s rep. Creed and Straight Outta Compton were also left off this year’s list of nominees for Best Picture.
Celebrities have spoken out against whitewashing of award ceremonies, as actors slam the 2016 Oscars for a lack of diversity.
As you can see, he refers to the awards as “The White BET Awards”.
Jada is not feeling the whole 50-Shades-of-Beige vibe going on with the Academy Awards this year. Her words only echoed Al Sharpton’s previous comments, posing the question on whether or not people of color should “refrain from participating altogether”.
Nevertheless, Chris Rock (he’s a Black guy, if you’re unaware) is the host and he’s already got jokes.
“That experience was awesome and I always understand why people say “Academy Award-winning” because it’s conditioning and we believe that that Academy Award is the be all, end all“.
Chris Rock, who is hosting the 2016 Academy Awards, shared a 15-second promo on Twitter titling the 2016 Oscars “The White BET Awards”.
“Of course I am disappointed, but this is not to take away the greatness (of the nominees)”, she told Deadline.
He said it is for precisely for these reasons that he met with Sony Pictures previous year and why he will continue the fight to bring equality to the film industry.
“That movie was about gangster rap, and they still found a way to nominate white people”.

Jada is only one out of many who took to social media to express disappointment and outrage over what some are deeming as ‘the deliberate and institutional bias against people of color’.
