New Star Wars one of highest grossing movies in Germany, overseas

Fifth on the list was “Sisters”, with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, which made $7.2 million in its fourth week out. It went on to gross $390.9 million in China, just over a quarter of the movie’s total earnings. The $221,000 weekend brought its domestic total up to $490,532 – but “Anomalisa” also has some work to do to make back its $8 million production budget. Variety is reporting that the film earned a record-breaking $53 million for the weekend. Next week’s estimates place it as declining in the 60% range and ultimately fading away in the mid-$20 millions.

Will Smith’s Concussion was down two spots to #10 in its third week with $3.1 million. The film seems likely to end with less than $50 million in the United States at this point.
