Dion’s older brother Daniel, 59, passed away surrounded by his family after battling cancer for several years. Dion had previously postponed professional obligations to care for her ailing spouse who was fighting cancer.
The Dion family (of which Daniel was the 8th out of 14 children), released a statement saying he will be remembered as “a gentle and reserved man of many talents”.
Her husband Rene Angelil, 73, and…
The death of Daniel was confirmed by the singer’s sister Claudette, who told the Journal de Montréal that her sibling was serene ahead of his passing. Viewing will take place next Saturday, a day after Angelils funeral is set to take place at Montreals Notre Dame Basilica, the same church where he married the singer in 1994.
Dion has won a number of Grammy awards during her successful career, including for the Titanic theme My Heart Will Go On.

A Celebration of Life tribute ceremony for Angelil will also be held at the Caesars Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas, where his wife has been a regular performer for many years, on 3 February (16).
