Earlier Sunday, the Israeli military said a Palestinian who tried to stab soldiers in the West Bank was shot dead.

Israeli media called the victim “a suspected terrorist” since none of the soldiers have been injured.
“A Palestinian assailant drew a knife and attempted to stab soldiers securing the area”, south of the city of Nablus, a statement said.
His father refuted the Israeli claims of an “attempting stabbing attack”, and said Wisam headed to his work at the brick factory, where he has been working for several years, and accused the military of executing him.
The Palestinian health ministry also confirmed the incident.
Since the start of October at least 147 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces, 93 of them as they tried to attack Israelis, according to Israeli authorities.
In the same period, Palestinian stabbings, car-rammings and gun attacks have killed 24 Israelis and a US citizen.
A large amount of the Palestinian attackers have been young people, including teenagers.
There have been allegations that Israel has used excessive force in some cases, which it firmly denies.

Tensions in the occupied territories have dramatically escalated since the Israeli regime’s imposition of restrictions in August on the entry of Palestinian worshipers to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds. Most of the others died in clashes with Israeli security forces. The Palestinians say it is rooted in anger at decades of living under Israeli occupation.
