George Miller Clarifies His Plans For More Mad Max Movies, Again

George Miller has said that he will be returning to make two more Mad Max films, despite reports to the contrary. Miller has been extremely vocal about just how grueling the shoot for Fury Road was.

Actor John Krasinski and Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs will then reveal the nominations in the remaining 12 categories, including best actor, actress, director and the all-important best picture.

Margaret Sixel, Miller’s wife, has been nominated for best editor for Fury Road.

Miller also wanted to clarify the news story from earlier this week that suggested he was never going to do another Mad Max movie.

But today brings news that this news from Page Six was, in one sense or another, complete bunk, as Miller is now saying that he was misquoted by the writer and that he is, indeed, ready with at least two more installments in the venerable series.

The film was also partly shot at Fox Studios in Sydney.

Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale, The Big Short; Tom Hardy, The Revenant; Mark Ruffalo, Spotlight; Mark Rylance, Bridge of Spies; Sylvester Stallone, Creed.

Though some fans had hoped for a better showing, the box-office behemoth “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” failed to land a best picture nomination.

It may not have walked away with any acting or directing nominations, but a pleasant treat was learning that “Straight Outta Compton” – the NWA biopic – was nominated for Original Screenplay.

Other Australian Fury Road nominees were: production designers Colin Gibson and Lisa Thompson; sound mixer Ben Osmo; sound editor David White; makeup and hairstyling Lesley Vanderwalt, Elka Wardega and Damian Martin; visual effects Andrew Jackson and Dan Oliver.

Australia’s previous record for nominees was in 2002 when Baz Lurhmann’s Moulin Rouge led an Australian contingent of 13 Oscar nods.

The Oscar ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 28.
