Ms Chetcuti was last seen at the Whorouly Hotel at 7.30pm on Tuesday and her burnt-out auto was found 20km away in Myrtleford on Thursday.
Police are yet to formally identify the body but it is believed to be Ms Chetcuti.
A 48-year-old man is assisting police with their investigation into Karen’s disappearance.
Ms Chetcuti’s neighbour wipes his face as he speaks to police at her property on Friday as it was being searched.
The police dog squad, local police, and the SES continue to search for the woman between Myrtleford and Whorouly, toward Wangaratta.
It is understood Mr Cardamone was the last person to see Ms Chetcuti and was arrested following a pursuit in Melbourne.
Police have questioned the neighbour of Ms Chetcuti over her disappearance.
When police searched her home they found the lights on and her phone and handbag left behind.
Security camera footage of Ms Chetcuti at a supermarket at 5pm on Tuesday shows her wearing a cream or yellow tank top and a dark skirt.
The 49-year-old has two children, 14 and 15, who are staying with their father.

“I don’t think you will find anyone who would say a bad word about her, she has the most infectious smile”, he said.
