A team source told the Miami Herald that while a deal was not yet finalized, the two sides are making progress.

Now that Gase is interviewing with the team for the second time Saturday, can a job offer be far behind? “In the end, I was convinced and the search committee was unanimous was the right leader for our football team who best met all of our priorities”.

Gase interviewed to be head coach this year with Cleveland, Philadelphia and the New York Giants in addition to the Dolphins….

Like Cutler Tannehill was recently signed to a huge contract extension. While Gase doesn’t have any head coaching experience, he has been a part of some excellent offenses.

Offensive coordinator Adam Gase has left the Bears after one season to become head coach of the Miami Dolphins. In 2015, Gase’s first year in Chicago, Cutler finished 10th, just behind Kirk Cousins, Philip Rivers and Matthew Stafford.

“It’s going to start with me”, Gase said of improving Tannehill.

Former Cardinals and Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt is an interesting name to keep in mind if Fox looks to bring in a veteran offensive coordinator from the outside.

During his one year with the Bears, Gase helped Jay Cutler to a career-high passer rating (92.3) despite playing often without his top wide receiver, Alshon Jeffery, who missed seven games.

He actually should have been a head coach a year earlier.

The Bears liked Cutlers’ development, and much of it was attributed to Gase and his ability to cater to his quarterback’s strengths.

Gase spent six seasons on Denver’s staff. He was offensive coordinator when the Broncos and Peyton Manning scored an NFL-record 606 points and advanced to the Super Bowl in 2013, and when they scored 482 points the following season.

Two years ago, Gase was the hotshot assistant coach of a record-breaking Denver Broncos and was looking to interview for a head coaching job.

“I’m very happy for Adam”, Manning said Saturday.

Fox Sports reported Dallas Cowboys secondary coach Jerome Henderson will join the Dolphins in the same role under soon-to-be new defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, the defensive backs coach for the Cincinnati Bengals.
