The Farnesina said that its Crisis Unit is monitoring the case and remains in constant contact with the families of the four Italian nationals and Bonatti.
Four Italians working for a construction company have been kidnapped in conflict-torn Libya, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Monday.
The ministry noted it had closed its embassy in Libya on February 15 and urged Italians to leave the North African nation because of the dangers to foreigners.
Italian foreign policy chief Paolo Gentiloni told reporters that the ministry is cooperating with intelligence services to gather all the information, adding that it is hard to say exactly who was behind the kidnapping.
