Apple employees return after evacuation

Apple workers in Ireland have been allowed to return to work after around 4,000 were evacuated following a bomb scare, according to reports. Although details are scarce, Defence Forces told The Independent that explosive ordnance disposal teams are on standby in case they are needed.

It is understood that several threatening emails were received by the company.

The search for explosives or suspicious packages continues at this moment, so we’ll update the article should more information emerge from the site.

A similar incident happened in November 2015, but this time, it targeted Redmond-based rival Microsoft, whose German headquarters in Munich was also evacuated due to bomb threats.

STAFF at Apple offices in Lavitts Quay, Model Farm Road and the main Hollyhill campus have been evacuated this morning.

On January 13 past year the Intel plant in Leixlip was evacuated after a bomb threat which later turned out to be a hoax.

Staff returned to work just before midday and they will be debriefed on the morning’s events.
