‘Feels like defeat’: Van Gaal dismay following Man Utd’s six-goal Newcastle
Scholes continued to say “I expect positive play from Manchester United all the time, whether you’re home or away” as Scholes was brought up with the United way of always trying to attack, and that led to numerous trophies during his time at the club. We could have finished the match much earlier, Lingard, Fellaini… but we didn’t do that.

Wayne Rooney has expressed his frustration at Manchester United’s failure to hold onto their lead against Newcastle on Tuesday night.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal slammed referee Mike Dean’s performance in his side’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle United on Tuesday.
Van Gaal is back under pressure after winning just once in eight games.
“We can’t keep going on conceding three goals every game so we have to work on that and create the chances without giving goals away”, Rooney continued.
He said: “We were talking about “Boring, boring United” and Newcastle having questionable character – I think both teams showed that that’s not true”. Tonight it was important we didn’t lose it and to score in the last minute felt like we had won it.
Rooney hopes that United’s rediscovered attacking edge will be on display again at Anfield. “But when you see a match that only one team wants to defend and wastes time and frustrates the opponent…”
Newcastle trailed 2-0 and 3-2, but fought back to snatch a share of the spoils thanks to goals from Georginio Wijnaldum, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dummett.
“To go and watch Manchester United, whether it’s home or away, is entertainment, it’s goals – whether you concede goals or whether you can score goals”.
After only managing to pick up a point against 19 place Newcastle, Van Gaal will need to register a win against rivals Liverpool if he is to ensure some safety over his managerial role. “It’s important we have a good night because it was a really good result after being 2-0 down. It must have been a great game for the neutral – it was a heart attack for the coaches”.
